Hi Matcha Lovers!
I have been a little bit obsessed with earl grey matcha lattes recently and wanted to share how I make it with you.
If you haven't tried an earl grey matcha before, this is your sign!
The recipe includes salted maple cold foam too. I have been adding this to my earl grey matcha's to add extra flavour and recommend trying it.
Earl Grey Matcha
with salted maple cold foam
1. Earl grey syrup
- In a saucepan on low to medium heat, Simmer 3 tbs / 5 bags of earl grey tea in 1 cup of water
- Strain out the tea leaves.
- Add 1 cup of brown sugar and simmer for ~5 minutes until the sugar is fully dissolved.
- Take off the heat and add a small dash of vanilla and a pinch of salt
If you prefer a stronger earl grey flavour, I would maybe skip the vanilla.
2. Salted maple cold foam
- Froth 20 ml of cold oat milk or thickened cream with 10 ml of maple syrup and a pinch of salt for 2-3 minutes.
I use my nespresso frother on the cold setting or a handheld electric frother.
As a lactose free gal, I use oat milk but if you want the classic thick foam then cream is best.
3. Prep your matcha
- My go-to ratio is 2g of matcha, 30 ml of water and 80 ml of oat milk
- For more matcha flavour, add 1 tbs of earl grey syrup to your milk
- For more earl grey flavour, add 2 tbs of earl grey syrup to your milk
4. Add it all together and enjoy!
Can't wait for you to try making this !! Let me know your thoughts & feedback <3
