October Recipe

Let’s make Banana Bread Syrup!

this syrup is SO easy and delicious, and perfect for when you have super ripe bananas that you don’t want to waste (this happens way too often than I care to admit😭)

let me know if you get a chance to make it!

what you need

2 very ripe bananas

butter

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup water

how to make it

  1. cut the bananas into long slices
  2. melt butter in a pan on low heat, sprinkle in some brown sugar
  3. place the banana slices on top of the melted butter and let it caramelised for about 3 minutes before flipping the banana slices to other sidenote: if you love cinnamon, you can add some to the bananas while caramelising
  4.  mash the caramelised bananas as smooth as possible (a fork or masher will do the trick)
  5. add 1/2 cup of water and 1/2 cup of brown sugar to the mashed bananas
  6. turn up the heat and continuously mix until it starts boiling
  7. immediately turn off the heat once it boils and continue to stir
  8. once it’s all combined and cooled to touch, add a little dash of vanilla syrup and a pinch of salt
  9. if you want a smooth syrup you can blend it together to get rid of the banana lumps
  10. otherwise, chuck in in a jar in the fridge and use it up within 5 days!
